Sean Cain: Circadian Rhythm & Artificial Light at Night

Sean Cain, PhD, is a world-leading researcher in the field of circadian rhythms and light sensitivity. His current research includes deep circadian phenotyping of large cohorts, the role of real-world light exposure in driving circadian amplitude, and the application of circadian science to areas such as depression, sleep disorders, and mental health. He has authored several key large-scale studies demonstrating the unparalleled effects of bright days and dark nights on human health. This work has contributed significantly to the ever-growing body of work demonstrating the dangers of artificial light at night and insufficient sunlight during the day. Sean has also developed the MiEye light sensor device for tracking daily light exposure and circadian rhythms for both research and individual uses.
